Job description

Shames Mountain, owned and operated by My Mountain Coop, is searching for a new Snow School Director for the 2025/2026 winter season. Shames Mountain is located on the unceded traditional territories of the Tsimshian people, near the city of Terrace.

As the Snow Sports Director. you are responsible for the management of the Snow School, all daily operations, financial growth including program and product development. You would lead your employees to create and maintain an exceptional snow school lesson experience for guests and mountain staff. The Director of Snow Sports also oversees the day-to-day operations of staff training, labor control, guest service and profit centers. The Director of Snow Sports is required to exercise discretion regularly and customarily in managing overall operation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Respect and adherence to Shames Mountain’s company policies and protocols, as well as industry, provincial and federal standards
  • Criminal Record check Provincial and Federal to be done
  • Plans, develops, implements and supervises learn-to-ski and other Snowsports programs
  • Schedules staff for peak days and weekends
  • Meets with the public and answers questions; resolves complaints from guests when snow school instructors are unable to solve the problem
  • Provides training to snow school staff and conducts instructor clinics and refresher courses
  • Evaluates snow school staff and their progress to determine future staffing needs
  • Works closely with all managers to maintain and improve the quality of experience for the guests
  • Actively promotes safe skiing/snowboarding by educating the staff and public to the Alpine Responsibility Code and common-sense rules of skiing/snowboarding
  • Maintain, update, and execute operations plans
  • Knowledge of Shames Mountain Point of Sales program
  • Ensures that Staff are knowledgeable of all Ski and snowboard programs that Shames Mountain offers
  • Ensures that work areas are safe, as well as building entrances and exits are safe for staff and for the public
  • Any other duties that may be requested of you within your safety and comfort level.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Should have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allows one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
  • Energetic and self-motivated
  • Ability to work under pressure and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to adapt to unexpected situations
  • Must be able to remain calm and portray a friendly demeanor in stressful situations
  • Must be able to work weekends, holidays and occasional evenings
  • Previous experience in managing or supervising recommended
