Job description

The Assistant Snow School Director – Adult & Private Programs plays a vital leadership role in the daily delivery of adult and private lesson programs. This hands-on position supports team operations, elevates the guest experience, and promotes team member development in close collaboration with Supervisors, Program Leaders, and the broader Snow School leadership team.

As a visible and proactive leader, the Assistant Director helps foster a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and continuous improvement. They contribute to operational excellence, respond thoughtfully to challenges, and play an active role in shaping the evolving vision of the Cypress Mountain Snow School.

ESSENTAIL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to the following):
Leadership & Team Support
• Lead the Adult and Private Lesson teams with clarity, energy, and accountability.
• Support Supervisors and Program Leaders with scheduling, staffing, guest flow, and lesson quality.
• Facilitate morning meetings that inspire, align, and prepare the team for success each day.
• Participate as a rotating Chair in Snow School Leadership meetings and actively contribute to broader strategic discussions.

On-Snow Presence & Guest Experience
• Be a consistent, approachable leader on the snow—providing real-time feedback, supporting lesson execution, and enhancing the overall guest journey.
• Champion a guest-first approach and ensure instructors are empowered to create positive, memorable experiences.
• Support staff in managing guest issues and personally handle escalated concerns with professionalism and empathy.
• Work in tandem with other department leaders to manage learning terrain, ensuring safety, flow, and effective use of space.
Operational Excellence
• Collaborate with the Snow School Director, Scheduler, and other departments to ensure efficient use of instructors and lesson capacity.
• Contribute to team decisions around instructor deployment, schedule optimization, and balancing guest demand with operational capability.
• Monitor lesson execution daily and ensure instruction meets both Cypress and industry standards.
• Participate in regular audits of Snow School practices in alignment with Boyne Standards Audit (BSA) requirements.

Health & Safety Leadership
• Actively monitor and record instructor safety practices, coaching where needed and reinforcing a culture of prevention and care.
• Lead or assist in the investigation and reporting of workplace injuries (including time loss, near misses, and medical aid).
• Attend OH&S and Department Head meetings as a leadership representative for the Snow School.
• Provide calm, effective assistance in emergency situations and coordinate response when necessary.

Special Projects & Events
• Support and coordinate special Snow School events or training initiatives as needed.
• Contribute to continuous development of adult and private programming through innovation, collaboration, and thoughtful feedback loops.

QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES:
• CSIA Level 3 / PSIC Level 3 / CASI Level 3 or international equivalent.
• 5+ years of Snow School leadership and management experience.
• Organized, composed under pressure, and solution-focused.
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven conflict resolution abilities.
• Experience with RTP and Flaik systems (preferred).
• Committed to exceptional guest service, team growth, and ongoing improvement.
• Successful completion of a criminal record check required.

AVAILABILITY:
• Must be available weekends, evenings, and throughout the Christmas/New Year holiday period.
• Up to 40 hours per week; some pre-approved overtime may be required.

• Wage: $65,000 – $70,000 (annualized & pro-rated over seasonal period, depending on experience)
