Job summary

Miller Maintenance, a division of Miller Group, is seeking Snow Plow Operators to support winter maintenance on contracts for the Ministry of Transportation across Ontario. You will operate a combo plow unit, perform snow removal on local roads, and maintain fuel and safety reports while ensuring hours of service adherence.

Strong on-call readiness and the ability to work extended hours in extreme winter conditions are essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold DZ or AZ license with a clean driver’s abstract and CVOR.
• Available to respond to call-ins within thirty minutes.
• Ability to operate a loader and perform maintenance duties such as patrolling, patching, and minor equipment maintenance.
• Willingness to work in extreme weather and to cover extended shifts including evenings, weekends, nights and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Operate a combo plow unit to perform snow removal on local roads and highways per contract requirements under supervision.
• Maintain documentation such as fuel reports, safety reports and hours of service.
• Perform routine equipment maintenance, minor repairs and cleaning of the plow unit and related equipment.
• Meet call-in requirements during winter storm events.

Miller Maintenance proudly provides maintenance services on Maintenance Contracts for the Ministry of Transportation throughout Ontario. Minimum Qualifications:

• DZ or AZ license with a clean driver’s abstract & CVOR
• Available to respond to call-ins within thirty minutes
• Ability to operate a loader and perform other maintenance duties such a patrolling, patching, and minor equipment maintenance
• Ability to work assigned shifts, and extended hours (evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays) as winter events require
• Willingness to work in extreme weather conditions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to drive manual transmission
• Previous experience in winter-works operations
• Mechanical knowledge, ability to perform routine maintenance and minor repairs to equipment as required
• Good understanding of MTO standards and AMC Contract Performance Requirements

Compensation Data

Hourly rate: $28-$30.57/hr

Day in the Life

Our Snow Plow Operators are an integral member of our winter maintenance team. You will safely operate a combo plow unit, performing snow removal on local roads and highways as per the contract requirements under the direction from Shift Supervisor and Patrollers. When you are not on the road, it will be important to maintain accurate documentation such as fuel reports, safety reports and hours of service as well as maintain and clean the equipment, conducting routine maintenance, minor repairs, and any other maintenance duties as required. You will familiarize yourself to understand route maps and sand/salt application rates and meet call in requirements during winter storm events.
