Summary

The Smart Components Technical Sales Specialist is an outside technical sales role responsible for driving business growth in the Smart Components segment. This includes Industrial Components, Motor Control, Sensors, Safety, Condition Monitoring, Controllers, Distributed I/O, and Networks. The role focuses on demonstrating the value of intelligent device data, optimizing machine design, and providing manufacturers with valuable operational insights.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Business Ownership – Drive growth, execute recovery programs, and leverage data to identify and capitalize on customer buying gaps.
  • Sales Leadership – Engage in in-person discussions to expand account share, maintain a healthy sales funnel in CRM to meet sales goals, and develop annual commercial plans for Smart Components.
  • Technical & Commercial Expertise – Exemplify technical acumen, marketing insight, and commercial leadership to accelerate sales.
  • Customer Engagement & Training – Plan and execute customer seminars focused on key growth areas and lead competency development for inside/outside sales teams.
  • Revenue Accountability – Own and drive revenue performance for the assigned product segments.

This role requires a proactive, consultative sales approach, strong technical expertise, and the ability to drive strategic, value-based sales conversations that position Smart Components as essential business solutions.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Electrical Technologist – OR – equivalent combination of skills, experience, or education.
  • TÜV or exida certification for Functional Safety is an asset.
  • 3 years of experience/knowledge applying RA’s products or equivalent competitive solutions.
  • Regular travel to customers within assigned geography, and to US destinations for training will be required.
  • Retain and convey a positive attitude in challenging circumstances.
  • Excellent technical writing & presentation skills with the ability to present RA’s value proposition to mid/large size groups of customers (external and internal) both commercially and technically.
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
