Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading supplier of building envelope solutions that effectively drive energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are looking for a Slitter Operator to join our team in our Petrolia, ON facility.

Job Summary

This position is a unionized role as part of our production team. As a Slitter Operator, you will be required to learn, understand, and implement all policies and procedures to help manufacture the highest quality products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will perform your duties independently and in a team with another operator, often with minimal supervision. The environment can be distracting, so maintaining a high level of accuracy and safety is essential. No travel is required for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Operate slitting/packaging equipment to cut, package, and label various rolled roofing products.
  2. Support maintenance team members in troubleshooting machine issues and making improvements within the department.
  3. Demonstrate urgency in achieving results.
  4. Perform daily walk-arounds to ensure safety guards and devices are in place.
  5. Check safety equipment and record results as part of the safety program.
  6. Validate the acceptability of product packaging and counts.
  7. Perform other duties as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  2. Attention to detail.
  3. Knowledge of safety standards such as WHMIS.
  4. Ability to work rotating shifts.
  5. Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
  6. Uphold confidentiality.
  7. Work overtime as needed to meet customer requirements.
  8. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Team Leader.

Education and Experience

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Two to three years of manufacturing experience.
  3. Experience with manufacturing machinery is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Manufacturing environment which may be dusty, dirty, and temperature-variable.
  • Shifts from Monday to Sunday, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 7:00 am.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Eye and hearing protection at all times on the production floor.
  • Steel or composite safety toe shoes.
  • Other PPE as specified by management.
