Job summary

Clear Destination Inc. in Nanaimo, BC, is seeking a construction labourer to perform a broad range of tasks on a busy site. You will work independently and with the site team, using power tools and assisting with material handling, demolition, and concrete work.

You should be physically fit, safety-minded, and able to follow instructions in a fast-paced environment. The role requires teamwork, reliability, and the ability to adapt to changing site conditions and weather.

Qualifications

• Several years (3–5+) of experience as a construction labourer or similar role.
• Physically capable of labor-intensive tasks and standing for extended periods.
• Ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.
• Strong understanding of construction techniques, tools, and materials.
• Willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and climate.

Responsibilities

• Perform a wide range of skilled construction labour tasks independently and in support of the broader site team.
• Assist the team with general labour duties to support site operations.
• Operate power tools and machinery such as jackhammers, concrete mixers, compactors, and power saws.
• Prepare sites, handle materials, demolish, excavate, and perform concrete work.
• Work with supervisors, trades, and labourers to keep a productive, organized site.
• Provide support and informal training to junior team members, and follow safety standards.
• Conduct routine equipment inspections and basic maintenance.
• Identify safety risks and report or correct them promptly.
• Work in all weather conditions on active sites.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform a wide range of skilled construction labour tasks independently and in support of the broader site team.


• Assist the team with general labour duties as required, contributing wherever needed to support efficient site operations.


• Operate advanced power tools and machinery, including but not limited to jackhammers, concrete mixers, compactors, and power saws.


• Assist in site preparation, material handling, demolition, excavation, concrete work, cleanup, and other assigned tasks.


• Work collaboratively with site supervisors, trades, and fellow labourers to maintain a productive, organized, and team-oriented job site.


• Provide support, direction, and informal training to junior labourers and newer team members.
  Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, hazard controls, and regulatory requirements.


• Conduct routine equipment inspections and perform basic maintenance.


• Identify potential safety risks and report or correct them immediately.


• Work in all weather and climatic conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, and varying site conditions


• Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on operational and project requirements.

• Demonstrates a basic understanding of workplace safety expectations and safe work practices.


• Strong willingness to learn, take direction, and develop within the construction industry.


• Dependable, punctual, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
