Job description

Overview

Responsible for assisting other craft workers in the assembly, mechanical completion, repair, maintenance, and QC of Wind Turbines. SKL-Ts may also be assigned other tasks during wind project construction, including foundation, offload, or erection activities.

Responsibilities
  1. Promote and comply with all company and safety policies and procedures.
  2. Complete all required safety documentation.
  3. Climb wind turbines daily and perform assembly and mechanical completion activities.
  4. Use taglines to control suspended loads during assembly.
  5. Bolt, nail, align, screw, torque, and tension parts related to wind turbine construction.
  6. Signal operators of construction equipment for machinery alignment, movement, and adjustments.
  7. Position, join, align, and connect pumps, motors, and other mechanical parts inside turbines.
  8. Perform surface protection tasks, such as painting or applying bituminous compounds.
  9. Spray materials for cleaning, coating, or sealing surfaces.
  10. Apply caulking compounds to seal crevices.
  11. Grind, sand, or polish surfaces using abrasive tools or machines.
  12. Use hand tools for tasks like torquing bolts, assembling parts, and demolition.
  13. Travel to different job sites as needed.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED and 6-12 months of related construction experience.
  • Or equivalent training and experience.
  • Certifications include Tower Rescue, Wanzek Climb (preferred), LOTO, Tool Drop, and Confined Space.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Commitment to health and safety, following Wanzek's Zero Injury principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, manuals, and instructions.
  • Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Understanding of units of force, pressure, and torque, and proper tooling adjustments.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions accurately.
  • Work within precise standards and procedures.
