Job summary

North American Construction Group (NACG) is seeking Skilled Ground Workers to join a remote mining site team near Fort McMurray. The role offers a combined rate of up to $36.17/hour, with room for growth and a 14x14 rotation of 12-hour shifts (paid for 12 hours). Transportation to site is provided from Fort McMurray; accommodations are not provided.

You will work at Site Suncor and join IUOE Local 955. Overtime is available after 8 hours per day or 44 hours per week, with a night shift premium

Qualifications

  • 2 years of labourer experience in industrial environments.
  • Minimum 1 year of mine/site experience.
  • Must be able to communicate in English clearly.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License required.
  • Mechanically inclined with a safety‑first mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Snow removal around shop and parking areas (seasonal).
  • Drive light vehicles within the mine site.
  • Install culverts and pipes as needed.
  • Operate plate tampers and other hand tools.
  • Move light plants/heaters and set up safety barriers.
  • Follow safety policies and wear PPE at all times.
  • Review safe work plans with supervisors before start.
  • Position heaters and light towers as required.

NACG is seeking Skilled Ground Workers to join our remote mining site team in the Fort McMurray area. This is your opportunity to join one of the safest and largest contracts in the region.

For this role, NACG offers a combined rate of up to $36.17/hour as well as room for growth!

Where You’ll Be Working
  • Site Suncor
  • Schedule 14x14 - 12 hour shifts (Paid for 12 hours). Days and nights
  • Accommodations Camp is not provided
  • Transportation Transportation is provided from Fort McMurray to site (before and after rotation)
  • Overtime Provided after 8 hours in a day or 44 hours in a week

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Snow removal around shop and front parking lot (seasonal).
  • Driving light vehicles in the mine
  • Installing culverts/pipes
  • Using plate tampers/other hand tools.
  • Moving light plants/heaters and installing silt fence/filter cloth/geogrid.
  • Ensure compliance to all company, client and legislated safety policies and procedures.
  • Using adequate and suitable safety equipment, including PPE.
  • Reviewing safe work plans/hazard assessment with prior to job commencement.
  • Manuevering heaters and light towers to warm equipment with pick up.
What Makes You The ONE
  • 2 years experience in a labourer role.
  • Minimum 1 year of previous mine experience.
  • Previous experience shoveling, raking, grade/laser work, managing pumps and dewatering, installing piping and backfill is considered an asset.
  • Successful candidate must be physically fit, capable of lifting 50 lbs (will be doing a lot of lifting and working outdoors) and work well with others.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are mechanically inclined.
  • A safety-first attitude.
  • Attentive and possess strong listening skills.
  • High school diploma, GED, and/or post-secondary education is considered an asset.
  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written.
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.

Once dispatched the following processes will occur
  • Will receive a call from NACG to set up all required pre-employment testing
  • An email will be sent with all required New Hire Paperwork to be filled out
  • After all results and paperwork are received by NACG, candidates will be contacted by Site Admin to schedule orientation and confirm your start date and other site-specific details.
