This full-time seasonal position requires professional certification, 3 years of experience, exceptional leadership, and strong communication skills. Position Details:
The Nakiska Patrol and Snow Safety Director (further SPSSD) is a full time seasonal supervisory position. (September 15th-April 30). SPSSD manages the day-to-day and long-term Department’s operation. Nakiska patrol and snow safety is a team of 20 seasonal full-time employees. (Professional Patrollers, Avalanche Technicians, Mountain Dispatch and Mountain Trail Crew), supported by an Avalanche Safety Contractor, volunteer Canadian Ski Patrol, Medical Director and volunteer on call physicians. SPSSD maintains the vision of the department and company while balancing the needs of the company. SPSSD reports to the Nakiska General Manager and the Operations Manager.
Prerequisites:
· Professional Ski Patroller (80 hr. outdoor emergency care certification, 3 yrs experience)
· Excellent leadership, communication & interpersonal skills with superiors, colleagues and staff.
· Proficient in verbal and written English, excellent computer skills.
· Great customer experience skills.
· Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in winter conditions, advanced alpine skiing ability in all terrain and conditions.
Additional relevant certificates and experience (Level 1 Avalanche, blasting ticket etc.) will be considered an asset for qualified individuals.
Duties:
Overseeing the entire Ski Patrol and Snow Safety program. (professional and volunteer)
Creating and maintaining a safe and professional work environment for all mountain users.
Ensuring staff comply with all policies and procedures.
Recruitment and negotiation of department staff employment.
Delegation of roles and responsibilities.
Implementing and educating on all five company core values.
Have strong interpersonal skills and ability to multi-task under stress or time pressure.
Managing the budget and safety equipment.
Updating and assisting Nakiska Management as needed.
Ensuring all documentation is done to a professional standard.
Other operations relevant duties as assigned or needed.
