We are currently seeking a Patroller to join our Alpine team. If you can provide guests with an exceptional experience and enjoy working in a vibrant resort environment, we want to hear from you.
Responsibilities include: (but are not limited to)
- Adhering to Manning Park Guiding Values, policies, and procedures as outlined in the employee handbook and Patrol Manual.
- Ensuring guest safety by identifying and mitigating hazards, maintaining ski area ropes and signage, opening and closing runs, assessing avalanche risk, compiling weather data, providing first aid, participating in rope rescues, locating missing persons, and contributing to public education.
- Maintaining patient care records and incident investigation documentation.
- Managing guest relations, including handling difficult guests.
- Enforcing the Alpine Responsibility Code.
- Assisting with resort events.
- Communicating run openings and hazards.
- Keeping the ski area clean of debris and garbage.
- Maintaining, inspecting, and documenting all ski patrol equipment.
- Upholding Manning Park’s Confidentiality Agreement.
- Participating in night on-call first aid.
- Assisting lift operations with daily opening procedures.
- Performing other duties as required.
Job Requirements / Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational First Aid Level 3 (Preferred) or higher, Wilderness First Aid (80 hours), or equivalent certification.
- Safety-oriented attitude and professional manner.
- Excellent communication and guest service skills.
- Supportive team player.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Advanced skiing/snowboarding skills, capable of skiing all runs with a toboggan.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
- In excellent physical condition.
- Previous experience in patrol, first aid, snowmobile driving, or SAR is an asset.
- Avalanche Skill Training 1 (AST 1) or higher is an asset.
- Fall Protection training, experience in working at heights or rock climbing are assets.
This is a seasonal position, requiring full commitment from November to April. Opportunities to cross-train and support other departments may be available based on seasonal needs.
