Job summary

Manning Park Resort in BC is seeking a Ski Instructor to join our Snow School for the winter season. In this role you will instruct guests of all ages, maintain safe learning environments and support lesson planning with the Snow School team.

The position requires Canadian Ski Instructor Certification level 1+, strong customer service, weekend/holiday work, and the ability to work outdoors in mountain conditions. Staff housing is provided along with a range of resort benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum level 1 or higher Canadian Ski Instructor Certification or equivalent.
• Dual certification is an asset.
• Ability to work weekends and holidays.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather and maintain safety.

Responsibilities

• Instruct and coach guests of all ages to ski within certification level.
• Provide safe learning environments in all lessons.
• Assess student ability and place in appropriate groups.
• Set up and take down lesson equipment and signage.
• Assist Snow School Supervisor in lesson planning.
• Adhere to the Alpine Responsibility Code.
• General on hill tasks and maintenance as required.
• Assist guests with products, services, and payments at POS.
• Distribute rentals and tickets; register Snow School participants.
• Maintain equipment and provide tuning/repairs when needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment around the AGS Building.

Job description

We are presently searching for our next great team member as a Ski Instructor to join our Snow School team. If you can provide our guests with an amazing experience, combined with working as an energetic part of our resort, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities include: (but not limited to)

• Instruct and coach guests of all ages and abilities to ski within your instructor's certification level in a group or one-on-one setting.
• Provide safe learning environments in all lessons.
• Properly assess students of their ability and place them in the appropriate groups.
• Set up and take down lesson equipment.
• Set up and take down crowd control measures and snow school signage.
• Assist Snow School Supervisor in lesson planning.
• Adherence and teaching of the Alpine Responsibility Code.
• General on hill tasks and maintenance as required.
• Assist guests with products & services; in-person, by phone, and by e-mail.
• Provide guests with accurate information regarding Alpine Services and Manning Park Resort.
• Prepare guest orders of rental equipment, snow school lessons, and/or lift tickets; processing payments through point-of-sale system.
• Distributing pre-purchased rentals & tickets and registering Snow School participants.
• Tech and adjust the rental equipment to meet specific customer needs.
• Tuning and repairs of Guest Alpine Equipment and rental equipment when required.

• Maintain a safe & clean environment for guests and colleagues at all times, including cleaning washrooms, cleaning floors and keeping the Alpine Guest Services Building sanitized.
• Shoveling snow and maintaining a clear and ice-free environment around the AGS Building.
• Follow outlined policies to find solutions to guests' issues.
• Assist in the marketing, promotion and sales of Manning Park Resort products (ski school, group bookings, season passes and/or day tickets).
• Other tasks as required.

This is a Seasonal Position, so you must be able to commit to the role for the full Winter Season (November-April). As a seasonal team member, you may be presented with opportunities to cross train and support in other departments to meet seasonal demands.

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

• Minimum level 1 or higher of Canadian recognized Ski Instructor Certification or equivalent. (An additional $2/hr is paid for each additional certification level & an additional $1/hr is paid for a dual certified instructor per level)
• Dual certification is an asset.
• A minimum of intermediate ski/snowboard ability
• Strong customer service skills
• Will be required to work Weekends & Holidays.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Must be approachable, dependable and a strong team player
• Excellent physical condition; Able to work in outdoor, adverse weather conditions and perform manual labor
• Knowledge of the Alpine Responsibility Code
• Previous knowledge of the ski hill is an asset
• Previous use of a Point of Sales System is an asset.
• Must have own equipment
