Skate Park Instructor - Fall/Winter/Spring 2025-2026

Join the Town of Newmarket's Recreation and Culture Team as a Skate Park Instructor and make a difference in your community! We are seeking dedicated individuals passionate about skateboarding and working with youth to deliver high-quality programs and events.

Position Details:

  • Pay Range: $18.07 - $19.17 per hour

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Set up and take down TelMAX Indoor Skate Park equipment and report issues.
  2. Develop lesson plans and evaluate participant progress.
  3. Prepare and distribute report cards and communicate with parents/guardians.
  4. Monitor attendance and ensure safety protocols are followed.
  5. Supervise participants, ensuring the use of safety equipment.
  6. Complete incident reports, provide first aid, and notify supervisors as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. 2-4 years of skateboard or scooter riding experience.
  2. Experience in sport and recreation instruction is an asset.
  3. Ability to work well with children, youth, and adults.
  4. Excellent communication skills with the public, participants, and staff.
  5. National Skateboard Certification Level 1 or 2 is an asset.
  6. Availability for evenings, weekends, and special events.
  7. Police Vulnerable Sector Check (satisfactory).
  8. Current Standard First Aid & CPR-C certification.
  9. High Five (Principles of Healthy Child Development) certification.
  10. Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) or Safe Management certification is an asset.
