Job description
Overview

Our client in the professional services sector is seeking a Six Sigma Consultant to support continuous improvement initiatives within their end manufacturing client. The consultant will bring hands-on experience in the food manufacturing sector, applying Six Sigma principles to drive measurable efficiencies, reduce waste, and optimize production processes.

Experience in “shunting” operations (logistics, staging, and internal transport of raw materials and finished goods) within a food plant environment is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Lead process improvement initiatives across food processing and packaging operations using Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Assess current manufacturing workflows, identify bottlenecks, and implement strategies to reduce waste, improve throughput, and enhance product quality.
  • Partner with plant leadership and production teams to evaluate and optimize shunting processes for internal logistics and movement of goods.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to staff on Lean Six Sigma principles and best practices.
  • Define measurable KPIs, track improvements, and deliver clear reporting on operational gains.
  • Ensure all improvements align with food safety, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance (CFIA, HACCP, SQF, etc.).
  • Support cultural adoption of continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience in food processing/manufacturing environments.
  • Proven track record as a Six Sigma Black Belt (or Master Black Belt preferred) with successful project delivery.
  • Deep expertise in food manufacturing operations, including packaging lines, cold storage, supply chain logistics, and plant floor process design.
  • Direct experience optimizing shunting/transportation operations within manufacturing sites.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and change management skills, with the ability to work effectively with frontline staff and executives alike.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards in the Canadian food industry (HACCP, GMP, CFIA).
  • Mature and seasoned professional with demonstrated success in complex, high-volume production environments.
