Job description

We are seeking a Site Trainer to temporarily support our Kearl site. The position is responsible for ensuring operational competency training at the assigned site through practical training, classroom training, mentoring, and evaluations. This is a great opportunity for a safety-minded individual who has worked on a mining site before and enjoys working with a high-performing and innovative team while making an impact.

Site: Kearl

Shift: 14 days on 14 days off - 12 hour days

Transportation: Flights provided to/from Edmonton and Calgary.

Ensure all applicable personnel on the assigned site have completed the required training requirements for their assigned position, including but not limited to CBLs, client training, SOP reviews, and manufacturer-specific training.

Conduct equipment training and complete competency evaluations. Provide production training as required. Assist in providing equipment training to maintenance.

Follow up on operator abuse issues, provide coaching and recommendations.

Ensure the company’s training program is implemented and followed at the assigned site.

Ensure equipment mentors are delivering training as per company standards.

Maintain onboarding logs and update crew designations weekly where applicable.

Submit weekly reports on time and as requested.

Utilize the LMS for theory delivery, record keeping, and training reports.

Qualifications include at least 5 years of operating experience in a mining environment, with specific experience on large and small excavators, crawler tractors, motor graders, and haul trucks. Operating experience on shovel and support equipment are assets. Supervisory or crew coaching experience, post-secondary education, and a registered professional trainer designation are preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and training software, good organizational and communication skills, and experience with adult training and program development are required.

All successful candidates must:

  • Be proficient in English, both verbally and written
  • Have a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Have the required experience as mentioned above
  • Subject to random testing at specified sites
  • Pass testing including breath alcohol, urine drug, fitness-to-work, audiometric, and vision screening

Candidates must provide OSSA, BSO or CSO certification, a valid driver’s license, recent driver’s abstract, and a void cheque or direct deposit form prior to start.
