Our client is a mid-sized General Contractor with operations across Ontario. In the Greater Ottawa Metropolitan Area, they specialize in small to mid-sized commercial and retail projects , ranging from interior fit-outs to mid-scale new builds .

Job Description

As a Site Superintendent , you will play a key role in the successful execution of construction projects, working closely with clients, subcontractors, and trades. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations on-site, ensuring that commercial and retail projects are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee daily construction site operations, ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and according to defined scope.
  • Lead and coordinate the work of subcontractors, trades, and on-site teams to maintain smooth workflow and productivity.
  • Serve as the main point of contact on-site, fostering strong communication with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust project schedules to align with key milestones, proactively resolving delays or challenges.
  • Track project performance and provide timely progress reports to senior leadership and relevant stakeholders.
  • Work in close partnership with Project Managers and cross-functional teams to drive project success and alignment.
  • Conduct routine site visits to verify adherence to safety protocols, quality standards, and contractual specifications.

The Successful Applicant

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Site Superintendent with a recognized General Contractor .
  • Proven track record in managing full-cycle construction projects, including i nterior renovations in the retail and commercial sectors, as well as new builds , with budgets of up to $15 million .
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and work from architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Highly organized, with excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction safety standards and regulations, with a strong commitment to site safety.
  • Must hold a valid G Class driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Mandatory : Enhanced Reliability or Secret Level II security clearance through Public Works and Government Services Canada.
