Overview:
The Site Superintendent is responsible for leading the on-site team throughout the entire duration of the project. This role involves close collaboration with project teams, consultants, and clients to foster a productive and safe work environment. The Superintendent oversees all field operations including budget adherence, scheduling, safety compliance, and performance metrics.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the on-site construction team.
  • Implement and monitor project schedules, labor coordination, equipment use, and material control to optimize cost efficiency.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, trade unions, and labor representatives.
  • Enforce construction procedures, job site safety standards, and hazard analysis protocols.
  • Support various project phases by providing technical expertise and leadership.
  • Participate in subcontractor pre-qualification and selection.
  • Monitor subcontractor progress to ensure adherence to timelines.
  • Oversee site setup, including temporary utilities, major equipment procurement, and material logistics.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team on equipment selection and acquisition.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of detailed project plans and schedules.
  • Offer pre-tender support and trade package preparation.
  • Engage subcontractors in scheduling commitments and monitor milestone adherence.
  • Lead trade coordination meetings and ensure alignment with project flow.
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers to maintain compliance with design specifications and contract requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations for specific project components.
  • Lead and support health and safety initiatives, including participation in safety committees and promoting site safety culture.
  • Monitor and coordinate the use of critical site equipment such as cranes and hoists.
  • Resolve field issues related to safety, scheduling, client relations, and construction logistics.
  • Contribute to staff development and training initiatives.
  • Assist in project closeout procedures, including inspections and punch list management.
  • Navigate local regulations, labor laws, and union requirements to support project execution.
  • Propose innovative construction solutions and support constructability planning.
  • Ensure field staff are knowledgeable about specifications, construction methods, and procedural guidelines.
  • Track and enhance productivity metrics aligned with project schedules and financial goals.
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a construction-related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience ICI (Industrial, Commercial, Institutional) construction.
  • Proven track record of managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Current Health & Safety certifications.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong leadership in safety and team development.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction techniques, safety, and productivity.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory and code compliance, particularly for ICI construction.
Preferred:
  • Experience with Procore and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Strong focus on quality assurance standards.
  • Proactive and results-oriented attitude.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, dynamic teams.
  • Strong problem-solving and follow-through skills.
