Job description

Traine Construction and Development (Traine) is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Site Superintendent to join our organization! As a key team member, you will supervise all construction activities on-site, ensuring high standards of workmanship and efficiency. This position manages on-site personnel and enforces safety and work regulation policies.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage and lead all on-site activities; ensure project construction is safe, timely, and efficient.
  2. Manage site information flow: RFIs, ASIs, SSIs, ESIs, MSIs, etc.
  3. Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and stakeholders to meet project specifications.
  4. Assist in creating and maintaining the project schedule.
  5. Build strong relationships with City Officials.
  6. Chair weekly trade meetings and assist with site meetings with the development team.
  7. Create lookahead schedules and monitor trades for productivity.
  8. Review blueprints and construction documents to identify conflicts early.
  9. Coordinate trade partners, suppliers, and vendors.
  10. Ensure work is built according to drawings, specifications, and standards through regular site walkthroughs.
  11. Manage and mentor field staff, providing necessary tools and instructions.
  12. Maintain an organized, safe, and efficient job site, enforcing safety policies.
  13. Handle field documentation: logs, photos, safety inspections, reports.
  14. Order materials and schedule inspections, coordinating utilities as needed.
  15. Address project challenges proactively with creative solutions.
  16. Oversee projects from excavation to handover.

Qualifications and Experience

  1. Experience in wood frame multi-family projects (4-6 stories, concrete parkade), with at least 2 projects from start to finish.
  2. Gold Seal Certification is a strong asset or in progress.
  3. Red Seal Ticket in Carpentry and First Aid are assets.
  4. Valid Driver’s License without restrictions.
  5. Experience with phased occupancy multi-building projects.
  6. Leadership skills to evaluate trade partner performance.
  7. Ability to read plans and technical documents.
  8. Strong management, delegation, and planning skills.
  9. Attention to safety and detail.
  10. Proficiency with MS Project, Word, Excel, Bluebeam, and Procore.
  11. Knowledge of construction disciplines, safety, scheduling, cost and quality control.
  12. Professional demeanor with stakeholders and team members.
  13. Successful background check required.

Working Conditions

  1. Availability 24/7 may be required.
  2. Physical ability to lift up to 75 pounds repeatedly.
  3. Travel to various sites will be necessary.
  4. Overtime and weekend work as needed.
  5. Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
