What we are looking for:

As a Site Reliability Engineer at Escape Velocity, you will be a game maker, enabling the teams to create new ways to enhance experiences in interactive entertainment.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer with a broad set of technical skills, a development and automation-focused mindset, and a passion for solving major technological challenges that impact millions of users.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze, implement, and improve complex systems responsible for delivering our game to millions of fans
• Own the delivery, scalability, and reliability of the cloud-hosted game title
• Partner with game teams to advise on and implement best practices to enhance player experiences
• Take ownership of projects, ensuring timely completion with high standards of quality
• Diagnose and resolve operational issues in collaboration with product teams
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to support our peers and customers
• Optimize for reliability, availability, observability, and cost efficiency
• Participate in on-call rotations to handle critical incidents

Qualifications:

• 5+ years in a Site Reliability, DevOps, or Platform Engineering role
• Experience with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Loki
• Knowledge of GitOps workflows and version control systems like Helix Core / Perforce
• Experience with CI/CD systems like Buildkite, Github, or Gitlab
• Proficiency in IaC tools such as Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation
• Experience with backend game engines (e.g., Pragma, GameLift, Agones)
• Understanding of capacity planning and FinOps
• Proficient in high-level languages (Python, Kotlin, JavaScript, C++)
• Strong Linux skills
• Knowledge of cloud services, automation, and cost optimization
• Ability to translate project goals into requirements from concept to completion
