As a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), you will join the Digital Engineering Operations team, responsible for ensuring the operations and reliability of the Bank's non-authenticated web pages. You will drive the success of Scotia Digital production services by enhancing availability, scalability, performance, and reliability. The team proactively improves application monitoring, addresses production issues, and assists with customer inquiries. The role also involves implementing tagging for customer analytics.
In this role, you will:
- Lead initiatives for analysis to improve application reliability.
- Manage incidents, problems, and apply SRE practices.
- Enhance operations, alerting, monitoring, and visibility.
- Safely deploy code packages using approved security platforms.
- Maintain comprehensive software documentation.
- Foster a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships.
- Provide end-to-end support as a subject matter expert.
- Lead, triage, and communicate severity 1 incidents, including change management impacting digital banking. Note: includes on-call outside regular hours.
- Coordinate with various units including technology partners, QA, vendors, and leadership.
- Align activities with risk culture and communicate risk management practices.
- Create an environment promoting effective operations and compliance.
- Refine technical specifications and requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience with automated production monitoring and support, integrating tools like Splunk, Dynatrace, NewRelic, etc.
- Proven incident resolution leadership, root cause analysis, and deep problem analysis skills.
- Familiarity with Google SRE practices, ITIL, and 2+ years in SRE roles.
- Understanding of how technology impacts customer experience.
- Strong communication skills and stakeholder influence.
- Experience with modern JS frameworks (preferably React), analytics tags, DevOps tools, security platforms, REST API, HTML/CSS, and object-oriented design.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, GKE, Azure, PCF is a plus.
- Logical thinking and curiosity to innovate.
- Post-secondary degree in a related field.
- Experience with accessible, internationalized web applications and OAuth is an asset.
- Experience in financial services and devOps is advantageous.
