Job summary

COOEC Canada Company seeks an experienced Piping Engineer at its Fort McMurray site, Alberta. You will define stress-critical lines, perform piping stress analysis, and support piping design and field construction across multi-discipline teams.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering degree, PEng status, and 10–15+ years of oil & gas experience with strong knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, and CSA Z662. Teamwork and independence are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineer (APEGA PEng) status is required to authenticate piping drawings.
• 10–15+ years of engineering experience in Oil & Gas or related fields.

Responsibilities

• Define stress-critical lines and conduct piping stress analysis with final report.
• Provide stress markups to assist piping design, civil/structure, and mechanical teams.
• Select and design pipe supports and review piping drawings (Isomaps, GA, Plot Plans, Alignment Sheets).
• Prepare data sheets for piping items and springs; perform wall-thick and code calculations.
• Review piping standards and create new piping specifications as required.
• Prepare and submit piping design registration packages and review vendor documents as a responsible engineer.
• Lead the piping engineering team on assigned projects and report to project management.
• Provide field engineering support during construction as required.

Job description

LOCATION: CNOOC LLK Site, Fort McMurray, Alberta

Key Responsibilities:

• Define stress critical lines, conduct piping stress analysis and deliver final stress analysis report.
• Provide stress markups to assist Piping Design, Civil/Structure and Mechanical on pipe routing, restrain types, support loads, equipment nozzle loads, etc.
• Pipe supports selection and design.
• Review and approve of piping drawings including iso’s, GA’s, Plot Plan’s, Alignment Sheets, Section/Details and as-built drawings.
• Prepare data sheets for piping specialty items and spring hangers/supports.
• Perform pipe wall thick calculation and other code calculations as required.
• Review existing piping standards/specs and create new piping engineering specs as required.
• Prepare and submit pressure piping design registration package.
• Generate piping material MR’s, complete TBE’s and review vendor documents as a responsible engineer.
• Lead piping engineering team of assigned project and report the project management.
• Provide engineering support for field construction when required.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree on Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Professional Engineer (APEGA PEng). Able to authenticate piping documents and drawings.
• 10 – 15+ years of Engineering experience. Field experience is an asset.
• Industry experience on Oil & Gas (SAGD). Other experience such as Mining, Pipelines, Gas treatment, Gas compression package, Refinery, Upgrader are also acceptable.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, CSA Z662 and ABSA pressure equipment regulations
• Hands-on experience in detailed piping designs, piping and piping components material specification.
• Good communication skills both in written and verbal.
• Strong commitment to teamwork and work independently with minimal supervision.
• Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from COOEC CA is required.
