Qualifications

  • Experience in materials management, logistics, and warehousing for large projects.
  • Proven ability to coordinate with procurement, expeditors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control and material tracking systems.
  • Experience supporting site-based construction environments is highly preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP platforms such as SAP or Oracle is an asset.
  • Advanced Excel and MS Office skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all site materials management, logistics, warehousing, receiving, and inventory control activities.
  • Develop and implement materials management strategies to support construction schedules and project milestones.
  • Monitor and maintain material tracking systems, ensuring visibility of all inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams, expeditors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of critical materials and equipment.
  • Monitor material availability and proactively identify supply chain risks that may impact project execution.
  • Oversee delivery schedules to ensure materials arrive in alignment with construction sequencing requirements.
  • Identify potential delivery delays and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project impacts.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, carriers, and logistics providers to support efficient transportation to a remote project site.
  • Manage laydown yards, storage facilities, warehouses, and inventory control processes.
  • Ensure materials are properly received, inspected, tagged, stored, preserved, and issued to construction teams.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and material control documentation.
  • Support the development and implementation of site logistics plans, including material flow, access routes, and equipment staging requirements.
  • Provide oversight and direction to logistics service providers, warehouse personnel, and subcontractors.
  • Monitor contractor and vendor performance to ensure alignment with project objectives, safety requirements, and operational standards.
  • Collaborate closely with construction, procurement, contracts, engineering, planning, and project controls teams.
  • Provide regular updates on material status, inventory levels, delivery schedules, risks, and constraints.
  • Support the resolution of material shortages, delivery challenges, and logistics-related issues.
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across all materials management and logistics activities.
  • Ensure compliance with site safety requirements, environmental regulations, and company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safety meetings, audits, inspections, and incident investigations as required.

Job description

Our client, a major resource development organization is seeking a Site Materials Manager to support the execution of a large-scale mining and mineral processing project in British Columbia.

This role offers the opportunity to work closely with construction, procurement, engineering, logistics, and contractor teams throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing site materials management, warehousing, inventory control, logistics coordination, and material distribution activities to ensure critical equipment and materials are available to support construction and project execution requirements.

The position will play a key role in supporting material planning, supply chain coordination, contractor management, site logistics, and inventory control while ensuring alignment with project schedules, quality requirements, and health and safety standards.

Work Arrangement & Travel Requirements
  • Site-based position located at a major mining operation in Northern British Columbia.
  • Rotational schedule of 15 days on / 13 days off.
  • Camp accommodations provided.
  • Regular collaboration with construction, procurement, engineering, logistics providers, and contractor teams.
  • Work will be performed in a remote construction environment and may include exposure to varying weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in materials management, logistics, supply chain, inventory control, or warehouse operations.
  • Experience supporting large-scale mining, industrial, energy, infrastructure, or EPC/EPCM projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working in site-based construction environments.
  • Strong understanding of logistics coordination, inventory management, vendor management, and material control processes.
  • Experience coordinating material deliveries, transportation providers, warehousing activities, and inventory systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience with ERP or materials management systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms) is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
Preferred Experience
  • Mining project construction experience.
  • Remote or camp-based project experience.
  • Experience supporting major capital projects during construction and execution phases.
  • Familiarity with material control systems, warehouse operations, and site logistics planning.
  • Experience managing supply chains and logistics for remote locations.
  • Exposure to EPC or EPCM project delivery environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to support construction teams through effective materials planning and coordination.
