Site Maintenance Engineer

The Site Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for preventative and corrective maintenance of three facilities (two in Winnipeg and one in Carman, MB) and machinery used in R&D and production, ensuring safety and quality in compliance with procedures and policies.

This permanent position is based at the Smartpark location in Winnipeg, MB, with on-site support for Winnipeg and Carman, MB as needed. Your responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring proper functioning of all facilities and equipment used in operational processes, including controlled environment seed production, R&D, and lab equipment.
  • Developing and implementing a robust preventive maintenance program.
  • Conducting maintenance on facilities and equipment across the three sites.
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities using internal IT systems (e.g., CMMS) and driving efficiency through metrics.
  • Monitoring equipment performance and analyzing failure trends to prevent issues.
  • Recommending and implementing performance improvements.
  • Troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or control system issues and overseeing repairs.
  • Maintaining an inventory of parts, supplies, and tools to meet uptime objectives.
  • Coordinating with third-party contractors for outside services.
  • Complying with hazardous work permits and safety protocols, including LOTO, confined space, and atmospheric monitoring.
  • Creating a safe work environment that meets SSHE and CCOHS standards.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid 3rd Class Power Engineer certification under Manitoba regulations.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and control systems.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance engineering experience in manufacturing or lab environments.
  • Understanding of geothermal systems.
  • Hands-on mentality with a results-focused approach.
  • Availability for 40 hours/week with overtime as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 60 pounds.
  • Experience demonstrating creativity, outcome focus, collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
