Built on family roots, we value safety, hard work, and getting the job done right for our clients. We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities to build your skills and grow your career.

Help keep construction projects moving through effective labour relations, workforce coordination, and strong partnerships.

Forbes Bros. Group of Companies is seeking an experienced Labour Relations Advisor to support our project operations in Niagara Falls, Ontario. In this role, you’ll work closely with project leadership, union representatives, and industry associations to administer collective bargaining agreements, coordinate workforce requirements, resolve labour-related issues, and support compliance throughout project execution.

This opportunity is ideal for someone with hands-on labour relations experience who enjoys working directly with operational teams and navigating the complexities of unionized construction environments. You’ll have the opportunity to apply your knowledge of collective agreements, workforce planning, and dispute resolution while supporting a major project through its anticipated completion in November 2028.

What You’ll Do

Manage union relationships: Serve as the primary labour relations contact for project teams, union business agents, and industry associations, maintaining productive working relationships and addressing labour-related concerns.

Coordinate workforce hiring: Facilitate hiring through union hiring halls, prepare labour calls, manage manpower requests, and work with union representatives to resolve dispatch and referral issues.

Administer collective agreements: Interpret and apply collective bargaining agreement provisions related to working conditions, scheduling, overtime, premiums, and alternative work arrangements. Consult with EPSCA representatives when clarification is required.

Support workforce planning: Partner with project management and operations leaders to review scopes of work, validate labour requirements, coordinate workforce adjustments, and identify potential labour-related risks.

Resolve labour disputes: Investigate workplace concerns, manage jurisdictional disputes, provide confidential guidance on sensitive matters, and coordinate practical resolutions with unions and project leadership.

Coordinate training and apprenticeships: Work with union training departments and apprenticeship organizations to support workforce development, coordinate training requirements, and monitor compliance with apprentice ratios.

Maintain compliance and documentation: Monitor adherence to collective agreements, labour legislation, and project requirements while maintaining accurate labour relations records, workforce reports, and supporting documentation.

Advise project leadership: Provide practical recommendations on labour relations strategies, workforce stability, operational risks, and employee relations matters to support successful project execution.

What You’ll Bring

Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Labour Relations, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years of labour relations experience, including experience working in unionized environments and administering collective bargaining agreements.

Strong knowledge of collective agreement interpretation, labour legislation, union hiring hall processes, and apprenticeship requirements.

Experience coordinating workforce requirements, addressing jurisdictional disputes, and resolving labour relations matters.

Strong communication, negotiation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with union representatives and operational leaders.

Sound judgment, discretion, and problem-solving skills when handling sensitive workplace concerns and competing project priorities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and workforce reporting systems.

A valid driver's license and acceptable driver's abstract.

Ability to successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing in accordance with site and project requirements.

Experience in construction, industrial, energy, infrastructure, or major project environments, along with experience working with contractors and industry associations, is considered an asset.

Work arrangement: Full-time, onsite, field-based position.
