Job description

Horizon Recruitmentis recruiting for aSite Health & Safety Leadto support a large-scale construction project in BC.

This role is essential to ensuring the safe execution of construction activities on site and will work closely with field teams, supervisors, and safety leaders. The role will work on site on a 14/7 rotation to help create a culture of proactive safety, compliance, and operational readiness across the project.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily construction activities with a focus on health and safety
  • Participate in daily supervisor meetings to identify and prioritize critical work
  • Support job planning through risk assessments, job safety analyses, and permit reviews
  • Monitor field work to ensure compliance with safety protocols and permit conditions
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and reviews, and work permits
  • Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to align on safe work execution
  • Ensure proper isolation procedures and controls are in place before work begins
  • Assist in incident reporting and investigations
  • Guide and evaluate the performance of permit technicians and safety personnel
  • Provide training, coaching, and support to promote continuous improvement in safety practices

Requirements

  • 5 to 10 years of health and safety experience in mining, oil and gas, or heavy industry
  • Background in remote construction or operations on a rotational schedule preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian health and safety legislation
  • Skilled in risk assessment, hazard control, and permit-to-work systems
  • Clear communicator with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Organized, detail-focused, and adaptable in dynamic field environments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and data management tools
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required

Remuneration

  • $70-80/hr + LOA. Rotation schedule of 10/4 or 7/14 based at the project site.
