Job summary

Recruiting In Motion - Eastern Ontario is seeking a senior financial leader to oversee finance, purchasing, and warehousing for a Northern Ontario mine site and to support corporate finance functions.

The role requires CPA designation, 7–10 years in accounting with at least 5 years in mining, and strong US GAAP and ERP capabilities, especially Dynamics 365. On-site in Northern Ontario with cross-functional leadership responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or commerce and CPA designation in good standing with CPA Ontario.
• 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with 5+ years in mining.
• Strong Excel skills and ERP system experience, preferably Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and finance functions for a mine site and supervise finance, warehousing, and purchasing teams.
• Deliver monthly and quarterly financial reporting with timely management information.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, asset maintenance, and cost center reporting.
• Partner with operations to analyze variances and implement corrective actions.
• Support capital expenditure approvals and manage external audits.

About Our Client Our client is a prominent player in the natural resources sector, overseeing major industrial operations. They are seeking a financial leader to drive financial management, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency for one of their mine sites, and to support the corporate finance functions. This role offers a discreet and impactful opportunity to lead finance, purchasing, and warehousing teams while reporting directly to the Director of Operations, Canada.

Responsibilities

• Team Leadership: Supervise all accounting and finance functions for a critical mine in Northern Ontario. Mentor, and guide the finance, warehousing, and purchasing teams to ensure cohesive cross-departmental operations.
• Financial Reporting: Deliver accurate, reliable, and complete monthly and quarterly financial information, providing management with timely reports on the current and anticipated state of the business.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Oversee the annual budget planning, monthly forecasting, interim estimates, fixed asset maintenance, and cost center reporting.
• Performance Analysis: Partner with key operational staff to systematically review monthly actual performance against budgets, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions for deviations.
• Capital & Expenditure Oversight: Support capital project and large expenditure approvals in strict accordance with the company's Delegation of Authority.
• Audit Coordination: Manage and coordinate all financial audit procedures in relation to the company's financial statements.

Qualifications

• Education & Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or commerce, paired with an active CPA designation in good standing with CPA Ontario.
• Working Knowledge of US GAAP
• Industry Experience: 7 to 10 years of progressive accounting experience, with a minimum of 5 years specifically within the mining industry.
• Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and extensive experience with ERP systems, with a strong preference for Microsoft Dynamics 365.
