Job summary

Douglas Homes in Calgary is seeking a dedicated Site Assistant to support the Site Supervisor in daily residential construction operations. You will assist with on-site activities, safety compliance, quality control, and coordination across our homes.

Ideal candidates have 2+ years of residential construction experience, the ability to read blueprints, strong communication and leadership skills, and the physical capability to lift 50–75 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Support Site Supervisors with daily site coordination.
  • Train/Mentor Labourers and Junior Site Assistants. Support Managers.
  • Coordinate and schedule trades in alignment with construction timelines.
  • Responsible to ensure signage is in front of every house (upright & visible).
  • Monitor job site progress and report updates to the Site Supervisor.
  • Conduct quality control inspections at various construction stages.
  • Identify and resolve deficiencies.
  • Assist with general site duties such as shoveling, sweeping, cleaning, moving lumber, small framing fixes and providing safe access to homes.
  • Responsible for frame checks, marking foundation, and measuring footings.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, reporting any issues or hazards to the Site Supervisor or Manager.
  • Conduct site inspections for cleanliness and safety compliance.
  • Operate basic hand and power tools.
  • Help maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Load, unload, and move construction materials.
  • Transport materials and equipment to various job sites as required.
  • Communicate with trades regarding timelines and expectations.
  • Perform minor carpentry and finishing tasks as needed.
  • Ensure sites are locked at the end of each day and assist in doors being opened for inspectors.
  • Follow all site safety procedures and wear required PPE.
  • Support material deliveries and inventory checks.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta building codes and safety regulations.
  • Assist with homeowner walk-through preparation.
  • Support warranty and service follow-ups as required.
  • Ensure homes meet Douglas Homes’ quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Douglas Homes, a large volume home builder in Calgary and surrounding areas, is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Site Assistant. We are in search of someone who is motivated, organized, hardworking and has excellent residential construction knowledge. Position Summary

In this role, the Site Assistant supports the Site Supervisor in managing daily construction operations. You will also support the labourers, on-site construction activities and assist with general construction duties, support the Douglas Homes field team, maintain a clean and safe worksite, ensuring that our homes meet the exceptional standards Douglas Homes is known for.

Qualifications

2+ years of residential construction experience.

Construction Fundamentals & Building Codes Training.

Certified and comfortable working at heights.

Strong understanding of construction from start to possession.

Ability to read blueprints and specifications.

Experience working with multiple trades.

Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

Strong work ethic and communication skills.

Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Ability to lift 50-75 lbs.

Valid driver’s license.
