Silviculture Planner

Located in Nackawic, New Brunswick, our prehydrolysis kraft pulp mill finds itself in a picturesque area of the Saint John River Valley, a short drive between Fredericton and Woodstock. AV Group is currently recruiting for a Silviculture Planner – Woodlands Division – Based out of our Nackawic, Fredericton or Atholville, NB locations.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Chief Forester, the Silviculture Planner provides technical support and leadership to ensure the silviculture program is conducted in compliance with all applicable standards, ensures the forestry operations comply with the management plan, and that all associated field work is completed in a timely fashion. The ideal candidate requires well-established organizational skills, a high level of motivation and energy, excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a dynamic team environment.

Responsibilities associated with this role include, but are not limited to:

1. Development and implementation of the License 1 silviculture program.
2. Supervise silviculture operations.
3. Complete all sampling to support decision making and planning for silviculture, operations, and forest management.
4. Liaison person between Chief Forester and Operations.

All of the above is to be performed in a safe and ethical manner to meet all of the New Brunswick Department of Natural Resources regulations and AV Group policies.

Minimum Requirements:

1. A Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience working in a similar role.
2. BSc. degree in forestry, or technical degree in forestry.
3. Experienced in silviculture program development, implementation, administration, sampling, and crew supervision.
4. Proven ability to deliver results.
5. Promote and support all safety and environmental initiatives when performing roles and responsibilities.
6. Must possess excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
7. Is an energetic, enthusiastic, and team-oriented individual.
8. Exceptional organization, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
