An established industry player is seeking dedicated individuals for a physically demanding role involving trenching, cable distribution, and signal equipment installation. This position requires a strong safety focus and the ability to work well in teams while adapting to various weather conditions. Candidates will start as S&C Helpers, progressing to Signal Maintainers after training, where they will be responsible for maintaining critical systems and ensuring safety in high-risk environments. If you thrive in dynamic conditions and are eager to contribute to essential operations, this opportunity is for you.
The role involves various tasks including trenching, cable distribution, housing installation, assembly and wiring of signal equipment, and pole line work. The work entails moderate to heavy physical labor in designated track areas, involving activities such as shoveling, installing ground systems, electrical connections, climbing poles, pole line repair, and walking on uneven ground. Employees must stay focused, work well in teams, and be prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions (rain, sunlight, snow, etc.). The position may require being away from home.
During training, employees are classified as S&C Helpers earning $26.51 per hour. Upon completing training, they may bid for the Signal Maintainer Apprentice position. After completing the program, employees will become Signal Maintainers, with responsibilities including testing and verifying S&C systems, performing preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, planning and coordinating work, managing materials, installing and modifying circuits, and preparing reports. The role is on call to address failures during off hours.
