Job summary

CN is seeking a Signals & Communications Apprentice to install and maintain railway signaling and wayside systems. You will work outdoors across diverse sites, performing testing, maintenance, and construction tasks while adhering to safety standards.

Applicants should complete CN’s apprenticeship program and be prepared for shift work, including nights and weekends, with physical demands such as lifting and climbing. Training begins at CN Campus and progresses to on-site duties.

Qualifications

  • Must have Grade 12 or GED
  • Completion of CN apprenticeship program with classroom and hands-on training
  • Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and nights

Responsibilities

  • Install, repair, maintain, test, and inspect signal systems and apparatus
  • Perform construction duties including digging, wiring, and installing equipment
  • Ensure safe working environment by following CN safety policies
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 85 pounds occasionally
  • Be prepared to work away from home in isolated locations
