Job summary

PNR RailWorks in Ontario is seeking a Signal Maintainer to perform inspections, tests, and maintenance on the assigned territory. Travel across sites is required and the territory may change.

You will maintain tools and equipment, undertake periodic inspections per railway standards, work with other maintainers, and perform general labour tasks while following safety procedures. The role requires working outdoors in all weather and traveling to work sites.

Qualifications

  • Valid G2 Drivers license required.
  • Successful completion of the PNR apprenticeship training program or equivalent.
  • Working at height training required.
  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Previous electronics training would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain territory in optimal condition to reduce or avoid trouble calls.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in ready-for-service condition.
  • Perform all periodic inspection and tests as per railway and PNR standards.
  • Perform special duties as assigned by the Maintenance Superintendent.
  • Work cooperatively with other maintainers on technical issues and troubleshooting.
  • Perform general labour tasks as necessary including operating equipment.
  • Comply with railway and PNR safe work practices and signal work procedures.
  • Perform all administrative duties related to proper documentation as per PNR Quality Management System.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Skills

G2 Driver's license

Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Technical Services, the Signal Maintainer performs all necessary inspections, tests, and maintenance on his assigned territory. The Signal Maintainer may be called on to assist other Maintainers as required. Assigned territory is subject to change, travel is required.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties
  • Maintain his/her territory in optimal condition to reduce or avoid trouble calls.
