Position Summary

Reporting to the Signals Foreman, the selected individual will be responsible for successfully completing day-to-day tasks by meeting or exceeding corporate and project goals for safety, quality, profitability, and schedule, resulting in extreme customer satisfaction.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities and Duties

  • Embrace our safety culture and adhere to industry and company policies and procedures.
  • Support cable distribution & installation, housing installation, and assembly of signal equipment.
  • Perform labor tasks as required by the Site Foreman or Superintendent.
  • Inspect, test, repair, or replace S&C systems, devices, and equipment.
  • Responsibly operate company vehicles and/or equipment and ensure all daily maintenance and inspections of the units are completed.
  • Work cooperatively with other employees.
  • Perform special duties as assigned by the Signals Foreman.
  • Perform any administrative duties related to proper documentation as per PNR Quality Management System.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Electrical or Signals experience would be considered an asset.
  • Experience installing communications systems is an asset.
  • Previous railway signals experience is an asset.
  • Ability to read and understand specific documents including schedules, standard railway plans, and specifications is an asset.
  • Ability to understand and efficiently carry out instructions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong work ethic.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Works outdoors at construction sites.
  • Frequently stands, walks, climbs, balances, lifts, bends, and moves objects up to 50 pounds.
  • Exposed to all weather conditions including very hot and very cold weather.
  • Exposed to loud noise.
  • Exposed to live track/trains.
  • Ability to work Days, Afternoons, and Nights.
