Job summary

Total SignWorks is in Calgary seeking a skilled Sign Production Specialist to join our team. The role blends design and production, preparing production‑ready artwork, reviewing files for accuracy, and supporting fabrication and installation from concept through completion.

You will operate large‑format printers, plotters, and laminators, apply vinyl to substrates, and manage multiple projects with attention to detail. Competitive pay and growth opportunities accompany this role.

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years in design and production environments.
  • Expertise in vinyl creation, application, and operating large format digital printers, plotters, and laminators.
  • Proficiency in using Adobe Design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.) and RIP software.
  • Expertise in color management.
  • Experience in pre‑flighting and producing proofs from client artwork.
  • Knowledge of sign fabrication methods and materials.
  • Competent in creating shop drawings and layouts for permits, fabrication, and installation.
  • Strong design creativity and attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a professional and polished demeanor with coworkers, customers and subcontractors.
  • Ability to interpret and follow detailed work orders accurately.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to propose effective materials for sign projects.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and refine production‑ready artwork and layouts based on client requirements.
  • Design, produce, and finalize a variety of signage projects.
  • Full‑time availability (40 hours/week).
  • Operate and maintain large format printers, cutters, and laminators.
  • Apply vinyl to substrates including ACM panels, signage, and vehicles.
  • Perform in‑shop fabrication using tools such as saws, drills, and panel saws.
  • Review and pre‑flight artwork to ensure accuracy before production.
  • Recommend materials and production methods for various sign types.
  • Manage and track electronic and paper records related to jobs.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the manufacturing/production area.
  • Consult and interface with customers to ensure their signage needs are met.
  • Perform simple in‑shop installations and occasional on‑site installations.
  • Develop mock‑ups and select appropriate materials for sign projects.
  • Learn and adapt to new technologies, skills, and techniques to enhance sign‑making proficiency.
  • Assist in the upkeep and maintenance of signage equipment.
  • Prioritize and manage print production tasks to meet deadlines.
