Job summary

Great Canadian Exteriors Corporation is seeking Siding Installers and Installer Trainees in Edmonton, Alberta. As part of our skilled team, you'll assist in delivering high-quality siding installations, ensuring both efficiency and safety on projects. This role offers an opportunity for hands-on training and direct involvement in residential building construction in a dynamic work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years' experience as a siding installer; one year as a labourer preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings.

We are currently hiring Siding Installers and Installer Trainees to support our team of professionals in delivering high-quality siding installation services to our clients. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around assisting with the installation process, ensuring the smooth flow of operations, and maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

  • Install a variety of siding materials following manufacturer specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Measure and calculate the amount of siding material needed for projects.
  • Prepare the work area by removing old siding, repairing damaged surfaces, and ensuring proper substrate conditions.
  • Cut siding materials to the required dimensions using hand or power tools.
  • Install siding materials according to manufacturer guidelines and industry standards.
  • Secure siding panels, shingles, or tiles using nails, screws, adhesives, or other fastening methods.
  • Apply insulation materials, moisture barriers, and flashing as needed to improve energy efficiency and weather resistance.
  • Trim and finish siding edges, corners, and openings to achieve a professional appearance.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality craftsmanship, proper alignment, and adherence to specifications.
  • Repair or replace damaged siding sections as necessary.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and adhere to safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Minimum t wo (2) years' experience as a siding installer; one (1) year experience as a Labourer (preferred)
  • Fall Protection / Man-lifts, First Aid, CSTS 2020.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Must have personal basic tool set.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of different siding materials, installation techniques, and building codes.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

Siding Installer Trainee Duties

This role will primarily prepare materials for siding installation and transition into the Siding Installer role with on-site training.

  • Measure, cut and fit siding materials accurately and efficiently.
  • Assist with preparation of worksites before siding installation, including clearing debris, moving materials, and setting up equipment.
  • Aid in the installation of siding materials according to company standards and project specifications.
  • Handle and transport materials safely to and from the worksite, including cleaning up debris and keeping tools and equipment in good condition.
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures and wear appropriate PPE.
  • Assist with other tasks and duties as assigned by supervisors to meet project requirements and deadlines.

Siding Installer Trainee Requirements

  • Previous experience in construction or related field (preferred).
  • CSTS 2020 & Fall Protection tickets
  • Valid driver's licences and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions.
  • Basic knowledge of construction tools and equipment
