Job description

Spirit Edmonton is hiring Industrial Catalyst Exchanger Cleaning personnel. Accommodations and travel will be provided. The role involves operating, understanding, and calibrating gas detection equipment used by Corporate.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Performing and directing rig-up/rig-down of all life support, vacuum, conveyor, and loading equipment at the top deck.
  2. Meeting requirements as the High Angle Rescue Team Leader.
  3. Being responsible for the safety of all entry personnel during vessel entry.
  4. Maintaining proper housekeeping on the vessel's top deck in a safe and effective manner, and managing the proper use of all equipment.
  5. Properly performing donning, doffing, lock down, and inspection of the V.E.T.’s PPE and Lock on Life Support systems or other respiratory equipment as required before and after entry.
  6. Maintaining constant communication with all V.E.T.’s, Ground Foreman, and Console Operator during entry, and supervising all vessel activities.
  7. Ensuring proper permitting requirements are met.
  8. Establishing and managing lock out/tag out, verification, and the blind list instructions.
  9. Actively participating in health and safety meetings, safety communication, planning, and hazard assessments.
  10. Maintaining a current Inert Entry Rescue Specialist certification and meeting all aspects of the VET position requirements.
  11. Working as part of a team with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in the Inert Entry Rescue Specialist position.
  • Minimum Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Safety-focused attitude with experience working in an industrial setting.
  • Possesses cleanliness and organizational skills.
  • Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties.
  • Ability to enter confined spaces and wear a respirator and breathing air helmet.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods and work 10-12 hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and out of town.
  • Ability to access client sites, which may require clearance of a drug and alcohol screen.
  • Must be experienced in confined space work with nitrogen.
