Your Opportunity at SECURE

Do you have a minimum of five years shredder operations or scrap metal industry experience? Our leading edge shredder facility is looking for a full time and committed Shredder Lead Hand.

The Team

To support the on-going growth of our business, we are currently seeking a Shredder Lead with superior time management skills to join our busy South Edmonton location.

Work Environment

This is a night shift from approximately 9.00 pm until 6:00 am, hours are subject to change.

A Day in The Life

  • Shredder production, including daily coordination of shredder operations
  • Maintenance and repair of shredder
  • Maximization of production while minimizing production costs and downtime
  • Good communication with all staff on shift, radio and verbal.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections – bolts, nuts, electric motors, bearings, conveyor rollers, hydraulic equipment/motors, hydraulic hoses, z-box, magnets, gear boxes framework, mill, infeed, picking station, air filtration system, etc.
  • Perform and document pre-shift start up inspections and deficiencies
  • Troubleshoot processing problems and take appropriate corrective action to maintain/continue safe operations
  • Clean and service equipment as scheduled or required
  • Meet daily with maintenance team to discuss issues such as damage or repair items that need attention
  • Other assigned work as required
  • Cover all positions as needed
  • Meet with plant manager on production goals and shift operations

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of previous equipment operation in a manufacturing environment, preferably in scrap metal or construction industries
  • Minimum 5 years leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Ability to monitor processes, material, and operating environment
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills with the ability to understand and carry out written and oral instruction and understand and write production reports
  • Organizational and time management abilities
  • Results-oriented team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
  • Knowledge of equipment operating principles, hazard and safety precautions, as well as the ability to perform light duty repairs in case of breakdowns on shift
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and able to lift 50 lbs
  • Experience on automated plants an asset example: (gravel plant)
  • Must be able to multi-task, cross train, and be willing to help wherever needed
  • Must be computer literate
