Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Short Order Cook for the NFS Patient Food Services HCH within CentralZone, Hants Community Hospital. The role involves fast-paced line cooking, preparing fresh-to-order patient meals, portioning ingredients, and following safety and cost-control procedures to meet menu standards.

Casual relief with no guaranteed hours; shifts may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Benefits package available if eligible.

Qualifications

• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

About the Opportunity

The Short Order Cook is responsible for preparing fresh to order room service menu items for patients, clients and customers within a fast-pacedline cooking team environment. The short order cook is responsible for the ingredient control of recipes which includes the measuring and portioning of recipe ingredients and the production of food items for the patient menu. The Short Order Cookis also responsible for followingcost control procedures, safe food handling procedures, therapeutic, allergy and menu standards, and providing overall customer service according to departmental standards.

Frequent physical demands including extensive standing and walking, bending, lifting, pulling, and pushing, and transferring food supplies throughout the shift.

About You

• Grade 12 or equivalent

Compensation and Benefits

$23.26 - $25.84 Hourly
