Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Short Order Cook to prepare fresh-to-order room service items for patients and clients in a fast-paced hospital kitchen. You will manage ingredient portions, adhere to safety standards, and contribute to quality patient meals within a team setting.

The role requires a Grade 12 or equivalent, food safety training or willingness to obtain it, and strong communication and teamwork. Weekend and rotating shifts are possible in a casual relief capacity.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Recognized Food Safety and Sanitation Course required or willingness to obtain within six months.
• One year related experience required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills including ability to follow written and oral instructions required.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
• Demonstrated organization and prioritization skills and ability to work under pressures of time limitations.
• Physical capability to perform duties including heavy lifting, withstanding demands of walking and standing during shift, working in an environment with heat and temperature fluctuations, as well as the ability to work weekend and rotating shifts as assigned.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Responsabilités

About the Opportunity

The Short Order Cook is responsible for preparing fresh to order room service menu items for patients, clients and customers within a fast paced line cooking team environment. The Short Order Cook is responsible for the ingredient control of recipes which includes the measuring and portioning of recipe ingredients and the production of food items for the patient menu. The Shot Order Cook is also responsible for following: cost control procedures, safe food handling procedures, therapeutic, allergy and menu standards, and providing overall customer service according to departmental standards.

Compensation and Benefits

$23.25 - $25.84 Hourly
