Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking an experienced cook to prepare, pre-cook and cook food to corporate standards in a high-volume kitchen. You will set up mise en place, deep fry and grill items, and ensure quality service with strict sanitation.

The role requires a food safety certification, a certificate from a recognized cooking school, and the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. The position is paid hourly with a comprehensive benefits framework.

Qualifications

  • Proven cooking experience in restaurant cook or prep cook.
  • Food Safety Certification required.
  • Certificate from a recognized cooking school.
  • Excellent understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures.
  • Accuracy and speed in executing tasks.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
  • Prepare Mise en place for high volume production.
  • Deep fry
  • Gill and charbroil eggs, burgers, chicken, etc.
  • Execute LTOs and display plates
  • Log and maintain production sheets, temps and logs
  • Clean kitchen equipment after use per health and safety policies
  • Label, date, store and rotate food/bev products
  • Communicate with all appropriate operational departments
  • Report maintenance issues to supervisor
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.

Job description

Prepares food in accordance with applicable corporate standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Prepare, pre-cook and/or cook food products as directed.
  • Prepare “mise en place” (setting in place of foods, garnishes, sauces, dishes, cutlery, etc) and other products as required for high volume production.
  • Deep fry
  • Gill and charlbroiler – eggs, burgers, chicken, etc
  • execute LTO’s and display plates
  • logging and maintaining production sheets, temperatures, sanitizer, master cleaning logs etc.
  • Clean kitchen equipment after use according to health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Label, date, store and rotate food and beverage products in appropriate storage areas.
  • Communicate effectively with all appropriate operational departments.
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

The hourly wage rate for this position is $17.90. Final compensation will be determined based on relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. We are committed to offering competitive compensation and comply with all applicable pay transparency legislation.
