Job summary

Confidential in Hamilton, Ontario is seeking a hands-on Shop & Welder Technician to fabricate, assemble, and prepare doors, frames, and architectural hardware. This role supports day-to-day warehouse operations and ensures products meet quality standards.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of welding and metal fabrication experience, reads work orders and drawings, and can safety operate hand and power tools. Forklift certification is an asset.

  • At least 1 year of welding and metal fabrication experience.
  • Able to read work orders, drawings, and measurements.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, assemble, and prepare doors, frames, and architectural hardware to customer specifications.
  • Perform welding, cutting, drilling, grinding, and metal fabrication as required.
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and measurements to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other shop machinery.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Receive, inspect, and organize incoming materials and inventory.
  • Pack, pick, and prepare customer orders for shipment.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and report damaged, missing, or low-stock materials.
  • Move materials between the warehouse and production areas to support workflow.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe shop and warehouse work areas.
  • Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.

Job description

The Shop & Welder Technician is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and preparation of doors, frames, and architectural hardware while supporting day-to-day warehouse operations. This hands-on role plays an important part in both the production process and warehouse activities, ensuring products are manufactured to quality standards, inventory is organized, and customer orders are prepared accurately and on time. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, dependable, and enjoys working in a fast-paced shop and warehouse environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Fabricate, assemble, and prepare doors, frames, and architectural hardware to customer specifications.
  • Perform basic welding, cutting, drilling, grinding, and metal fabrication as required.
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, and measurements to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other shop machinery.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Receive, inspect, and organize incoming materials and inventory.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare customer orders for shipment.
  • Load and unload delivery vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and report damaged, missing, or low-stock materials.
  • Move materials between the warehouse and production areas to support workflow.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe shop and warehouse work areas.
  • Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform other shop and warehouse duties as assigned.
  • At least 1 year of experience with welding and metal fabrication.
  • Experience operating hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.
  • Experience checking finished work for quality and accuracy, including verifying measurements, spotting defects, and making sure orders match specifications.
  • Forklift certification is an asset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid G driver's licence, a reliable vehicle, and eligibility to work in Canada.
  • Ability to read work orders, drawings, and measurements and follow work instructions accurately.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, and perform physically demanding work throughout the day.
