We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic team player to join our Service Team as a Shop Technician Lead. This is a Full-Time, Regular position, for our Prince George, BC Dealership.

Reporting to the Service Manager, the Shop Technician Lead is responsible for the effective supervision of Service Technicians to ensure that quality standards and productivity requirements are met. Responsibilities will include the training of technicians in service methods, safety, policies and procedures, as well as the identification and correction of potential work problems and health and safety issues. Through the effective management of targets, goals and service efficiencies, the Shop Technician Lead will ensure the ongoing success of the shop floor. He or she will act in the capacity of Service Technician as necessary. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Job Duties

  • Adhere to the company Mission, Vision & Values
  • Supervise the activities of all service department technicians.
  • Instruct all technicians on service best practices.
  • Maintain and distribute up-to-date service requirement information to all technicians.
  • Ensure quality of workmanship through verification of services.
  • Ensure completion of shop maintenance and repair work.
  • Advise all technicians of work that must be completed.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to all technicians.
  • Ensure compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, repair quality, and safety, while maintaining on-time delivery
  • Identify, investigate, correct and document potential environmental and safety problems.
  • Establish methods to meet work schedules and coordinate work activities with other departments.
  • Resolve work problems and recommend measures to improve productivity and repair quality.
  • Provide information to ensure that delivery objectives are met.
  • Requisition of shop supplies
  • Train all technicians in job duties, safety procedures and company policy.
  • Recommend personnel actions such as hiring and promotions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of product and repair techniques.
  • Assist Service Advisors with customer inquiries.
  • Cover shifts for Service Manager while away.
  • Must be flexible in work schedule as business demands.
  • Act as a Service Technician as necessary
  • Other duties as directed by the Service Manager

Requirements

  • Red Seal preferred or equivalent experience required.
  • Five years RV Technician/ or automotive knowledge and experience
  • Gas Certification and Forklift Ticket an asset
  • Leadership ability and team building skills to effectively supervise and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, implement, and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the company.
  • Strong negotiation and prioritization skills
  • Exhibits strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess solid mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates awareness of health and safety protocols.
  • Management experiences an asset
  • Ability to work independently when necessary, within a busy environment.
  • Must be able to push, pull and move equipment and/or supplies in excess of 50 pounds.
