Job description

The Opportunity

Responsible for providing quality workmanship, consistent service, and technical knowledge to the customers. Performs all tasks related to the testing, diagnosing, repair, maintenance, and reconditioning of diesel engines in marine, industrial, on/off highway applications as well as associated transmissions and components. Experience with diesel generators is an asset.

The Role
  1. Experienced diesel mechanic in various applications. Experience with Volvo Penta, MTU, Detroit Diesel and Mercedes engines as well as Allison transmissions is an asset. Knowledge of other brands in a related market is also an asset.
  2. Inspect and diagnose engine and components or equipment for servicing needs.
  3. Communicate with equipment owners for authorization of servicing and repairs as required.
  4. Service and repair equipment in the shop and on-site for the customer.
  5. Recondition and remanufacture components as required for engine and equipment repairs.
  6. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with customers.
  7. Communicate equipment servicing needs as required with Branch Supervisor/Manager.
  8. Communicate work performed and complete service paperwork.
  9. Update and maintain service records.
  10. Fill out warranty information.
  11. Complete work orders.
  12. Participate in manufacturers’ and in house service training. Training may occur during work and/or after work hours.
  13. Participate in all required Health & Safety Training.
  14. Comply with the Health & Safety program and practices.
  15. Performance of daily duties in a manner conducive to a safe workplace.
  16. Work with Manufacturers online support.
  17. Conduct housekeeping duties.
  18. Maintain a professional company image at all times.
  19. Meet requirements of Field Level Hazard and Job Hazard assessments.

The Candidate
  1. Education: Trade certification, Journeyman Red Seal and/or currently registered in a related Provincial Apprenticeship program.
  2. Work Experience: 2-3 years.
  3. Knowledge: Proficient written and verbal communication skills; proven ability to work with customers, exceptional customer service; demonstrated mechanical aptitude analysis and problem-solving skills.
