Qualifications

Job description

No experience necessary, we will train you! This position will ideally progress into the candidate attending trade school.

ROLE STATEMENT:

The Shop Technician will be a member of the Maintenance Department responsible for greasing components, taking oil samples, and changing fluids and filters as per the Maintenance schedule, assisting the Pump Coordinator(s) with fluid end repair and maintenance as well as maintaining a safe and clean working environment in the maintenance shop. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Shop Technician will focus on working with Mechanics and Electronics Technicians to facilitate equipment preventative maintenance, general labour duties in the pump shop and the basic upkeep of the maintenance shop, assisting the Parts department and other maintenance staff while adhering to all safety policies and procedures.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Work safely in accordance with all company safety policies, procedures, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements
  2. Must attend all pre-job meetings and attend safety meetings when required
  3. Assist with equipment and iron testing after repairs and maintenance have been completed
  4. Assist with fluid end repair and maintenance
  5. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with Calfrac’s policies, procedures, and regulations
  6. Load and unload equipment and/or product
  7. Grease units
  8. Take and label oil samples
  9. Change lubricants and filters
  10. Notify Lead Hand of any noted deficiencies
  11. Create work order requests
  12. Clean and assist with the maintenance of company vehicles
  13. Assist in completing equipment repairs and inspections
  14. Work with Mechanics and Electronics Technicians to resolve equipment issues
  15. Provide assistance as needed to the Maintenance and/or Parts Department
  16. Assist in general labour and cleanup in the maintenance shop and yard
  17. Repair and maintain all Calfrac equipment in a timely and effective manner
  18. Ensure that all paperwork is completed both accurately and on time
  19. Verify repairs and ensure they are completed and documented
  20. Complete maintenance inspections
  21. Record all equipment deficiencies
  22. Remote field work may be required
  23. Participate in equipment modifications, campaigns & recalls
  24. Operate the forklift when required

  8. Perform work in various physical positions including standing, kneeling, squatting, bending and reaching
  9. Must be able to frequently lift up to 50lbs
  10. Basic computer skills would be beneficial to this position (Microsoft Office Suite)
  11. Basic mechanical aptitude
  12. Knowledge of coil tubing, fracturing, and truck and trailer an asset but not required
  13. This position is considered to be a Safety Sensitive Position and may require additional screening
  14. This position has bona fide physical requirements and may require additional screening (please refer to the applicable Physical Demands Profile)

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School diploma preferred
  2. Valid Class 5 Drivers License or equivalent required (No GDL)
  3. Satisfactory Drivers Abstract required
  4. Previous maintenance experience would be considered an asset
