The Shop Technician is responsible for assembly, disassembly, and reassembly of general equipment. The Shop Technician will operate the required tools for disassembly and assembly of equipment and utilize various M&TE (micrometers, calipers, etc.) for the inspection of equipment used in solids control.
The Shop Technician 1 will report directly to the Shop Manager. Work hours are 7:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with overtime available.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assemble and prepare equipment for installation and service
- Assist the ASM with packing, wrapping, loading, and unloading deliveries
- Operate hot-water pressure washer to clean equipment as required
- Assist in facility projects including moving items, packing boxes, cleaning, trash removal, etc.
- Assist other shop team members with equipment installation, service, and cleaning
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Install and verify required S3S decals prior to equipment shipping
- Request tools, supplies, and fixtures needed for work duties
- Perform other duties as assigned by the SM, ASM, or CM
- May be required to work at other locations from time to time
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to use and understand various power hand tools and inspection tools
- Ability to operate equipment including front-end loaders, forklifts, and overhead cranes
- Fluent in reading and writing in English
- Manual dexterity and control precision
- Critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills
- Ability to lift up to 22.68 kg (50 lbs)
- Tools will be provided
- Diagnose, disassemble, repair, and rebuild various equipment types (pumps)
- Interpret blueprints and schematic drawings for assembly and disassembly procedures
- Operate manual, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric tools
- Utilize all M&TE (micrometers, calipers, etc.)
- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
- Reliable and accountable to complete work
Requirements
Minimum Education, Credentials, Licenses, and Experience:
- High school diploma required
- 2-year Technical Degree or Associate Degree preferred
- Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Typically shifts over 8 hours
- Travel may be required
- Environmental conditions include indoor and outdoor settings
- Extreme cold and heat conditions
- Physical activities include climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, visual acuity, grasping, hand and finger movements, crouching, twisting, talking, hearing, lifting 50 pounds or more, and cardiovascular exertion
