Boart Longyear is a leading global supplier of drilling services, drilling equipment and performance tooling. It also has a substantial presence in aftermarket parts and service, energy, mine dewatering, oil sands exploration, and production drilling.
The Global Drilling Services division operates in 30 countries for a diverse mining customer base spanning a wide range of commodities, including copper, gold, nickel, zinc, uranium, and other metals and minerals. The Global Products division designs, manufactures and sells drilling equipment, performance tooling, and aftermarket parts and services to customers in over 100 countries.
Boart Longyear is looking to hire a Shop Supervisor in Saskatoon, SK. The Shop Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the efficient operations of facilities and equipment, including managing staff, scheduling work, and ensuring safety compliance.
Position Responsibilities:
- Creating a work environment that is respectful, open, appreciative, and values each person.
- Develop weekly schedule for the Saskatoon shop workload.
- Oversees all repairs and maintenance on a standard work-order system for the Saskatoon shop.
- Responsible to help develop the preventative maintenance program with the Regional Coordinator.
- Participate in equipment inspections for proper performance, fault detection and malfunctions. This also includes testing repaired equipment to ensure that work meets regulatory requirements.
- Assist mechanics in diagnosing faults or malfunctions to determine extent of repairs required.
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed.
- Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of related shop personnel, apprentices and laborers.
- Establish methods to meet work schedules and co-ordinate work activities with other departments (I.e. Operations, EHS&T, Regional Planner, Engineering, Warehouse)
- Requisition parts, materials and supplies.
- Resolve work problems and recommend work measures to improve productivity.
Position Qualifications:- Experience supervising a mechanic shop with rotational workers in the field
- Mechanical experience with drilling equipment
- Red Seal Trade would be considered an asset
- First Aid with CPR Level C would be considered an asset
