Shop Supervisor, Highway Maintenance (Fox Creek, AB)

Description

You are an experienced Supervisor who is looking for a new career opportunity. Ledcor Highway Ltd. (LHL) has long-term stable career opportunities where you will be managing the day-to-day highway maintenance operations of a shop and yard. You will be responsible for ensuring adherence to Ledcor’s health, safety and environmental standards, assignment of work to field employees, achievement of quality objectives and financial responsibility for the Shop with support from the leadership team.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensure highway maintenance operations are well organized, coordinated and executed in compliance with LHL, client and regulatory requirements, meeting established timeframes, budget and in accordance with performance specifications.
  • Manage and coordinate all resource requirements for maintenance work including employees, equipment, materials, etc.
  • Ensure all reporting requirements are completed in accordance with performance milestones and targets.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop employees; manage employee performance and development issues including conducting performance reviews, employee discipline and identifying training needs.
  • Understand the CMS as a framework for quality management of business operations and service delivery.
  • Participate in the annual development of highway maintenance budgets, and perform regular financial reviews.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 5 years of experience in managing the tasks and activities of employees in Highway Maintenance or Roadbuilding sectors.
  • Knowledge of highway maintenance operational practices, processes, and techniques.
  • Ability to plan and manage a maintenance and service schedule.
  • Previous experience managing within a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Understanding of highways maintenance contracts with the ability to ensure that they are followed.
  • Strong understanding of cost management and budget forecasting.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering and/or equivalent work experience is an asset.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 license and provide a 3-year driver’s abstract. Applicants holding a Class 1 or 3 license may be given preference.

Work Conditions

  • Applicants who reside in Fox Creek, Alberta will be given preference due to the nature of the work.
  • As LHL is obligated to respond to various weather patterns, some shift work, on-call, and night shift will be required.
  • Work will be outdoors in various weather conditions.
