Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic to service and maintain heavy equipment across multiple job sites in Canada. You will follow regular preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and perform repairs to keep equipment in optimal condition.

The role requires Journeyman Off Road Certification or Red Seal in HET, 3+ years of hands-on experience, and a valid driver’s license. Excellent safety and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have Journeyman Off Road Certification or Red Seal in HET.
• Must have at least 3-year hands on experience of Heavy Equipment.
• Valid driver’s license.
• A recent driver’s abstract will be required.

Responsibilities

• Follow a consistent and regular schedule to perform various types of maintenance on heavy equipment and machinery at job sites.
• Repair assorted heavy equipment to ensure proper operating condition.
• Disassemble engines and reassemble after examination.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic and propane systems.
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, and battery replacements.
• Produce timely service reports and repair logs; maintain clean work area.

Job Purpose

The purpose of the Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanic position within Herc Rentals is to utilize his/her mechanical expertise to support the needs of the branch in a professional, safe and timely manner. An individual in this position will work to keep all equipment in top running condition through an effective preventative maintenance program.

What you will do...

• Follow a consistent and regular schedule to perform various types of maintenance on heavy equipment, construction equipment and various pieces of machinery at various job sites
• Repair assorted heavy equipment as required to ensure proper operating condition at the job site
• Disassembles engines and reassembles after a thorough examination
• Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and propane systems
• Conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services
• Recondition and replace assorted parts of the heavy equipment
• Must be able to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment
• Diagnoses problem areas for any significant wear or tear on the equipment
• Maintain work area in a clean and organized manner
• Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs
• Follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols
• Build positive relationships with customers

Requirements

• Must have Journeyman Off Road Certification or Red Seal in HET
• Must have at least 3-year hands on experience of Heavy Equipment
• Valid driver’s license
• A recent driver’s abstract will be required

Type: Replacement

Pay Range:$36 - $40 per hour
