Job summary

Boundary Equipment in Edmonton is seeking a Shop Labourer to support the repair and rebuild of large mining components on the shop floor. You will work with Welders and skilled tradespeople, gaining hands-on experience in preparation, cleaning, grinding and component assembly.

No welding experience is required, and the role offers growth toward future Welding Apprenticeships with Boundary. The position emphasizes safety, teamwork and a strong work ethic on site.

Qualifications

• Genuine interest in welding, fabrication or skilled trades.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort with tools.
• Dependable work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Able to follow safety procedures and work practices.
• Experience is an asset but not required.
• Experience with grinders, hand/power tools, forklifts or cranes is an asset.
• Interest in Welding Apprenticeship is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Support Welders and tradespeople during repair and rebuild tasks.
• Clean and pressure-wash parts and components.
• Prepare components through grinding, cleaning and surface prep.
• Assist with disassembly and assembly of components.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools and shop equipment.
• Move, stage and organize parts, materials and equipment.
• Assist with painting and finishing completed components.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
• Perform additional shop and material handling duties.

We are looking for a Shop Labourer to join our Edmonton team and support the repair and rebuild of large, high-value mining components.

Working alongside experienced Welders and skilled tradespeople, you’ll gain hands‑on experience with component preparation, grinding, cleaning, disassembly, material handling, finishing, and other stages of the rebuild process.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is mechanically inclined, enjoys hands‑on work, and wants to build a career in the skilled trades. No welding experience is required. What You’ll Do

• Support Welders and other tradespeople throughout the repair and rebuild process.
• Clean and pressure-wash parts and components.
• Prepare components for repair through grinding, cleaning, scraping, and surface preparation.
• Assist with component disassembly and assembly.
• Safely use hand tools, power tools, grinders, and other shop equipment.
• Move, stage, load, and organize parts, materials, and equipment.
• Assist with painting and finishing completed components.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
• Perform additional shop and material‑handling duties as required.

What You Bring

• A genuine interest in welding, fabrication, heavy equipment, manufacturing, or the skilled trades.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with tools.
• A dependable work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to follow instructions, safety procedures, and established work practices.
• Previous shop, manufacturing, construction, automotive, agricultural, mechanical, or industrial experience is an asset, but not required.
• Experience with grinders, hand tools, power tools, forklifts, or overhead cranes is an asset.
• Interest in pursuing a future Welding Apprenticeship is an asset.

Safety & Working Conditions

• This is a hands‑on industrial shop position involving grinding, cleaning, pressure washing, painting, material handling, and component preparation. You’ll be expected to wear required PPE, work safely around industrial equipment, identify hazards, and contribute to a clean and organized shop.
• The role requires standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Overtime may be available or required.
