We are currently looking for a Journeyman Shop Mechanic to join our Rocky View, AB Vertex Team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment and specialty equipment.
• Troubleshooting damaged industrial vehicles by inspecting hoses, fuel lines, fuel injector failure, coolant related issues, wiring/light problems, air leaks, clutch/transmission repairs, wheels, brake and steering components, etc.
• Completing repairs or refurbishing damaged components of a vehicle such as transmissions/clutch replacements, alternators, steering components, air leaks/fittings, and brake shoes, etc.
• Performing specific chassis mechanics, including inspecting, repairs and troubleshooting.
• Performing specific engine mechanics.
• Operating hand power tools such as impact wrenches, torque wrenches, and drills.
• Lifting and carrying hydraulic pumps, vehicle seats, hosing, brake pots, and links of chain.
• Completing two-person lifts when handling brake shoes or vehicle seats.
• Completing “live” troubleshooting on damaged vehicles by operating them in order to identify the root cause of a malfunction.
• Determine and document required repairs.
• Prepare work orders/cost estimates for service approval.
• Perform testing/inspection to ensure repairs are complete and in compliance with manufacturer specifications and government regulations/standards.
• Complete required documentation/reporting for inspections and repairs.
• Provide troubleshooting and course of action for emergency repairs.
• Conduct all job responsibilities in accordance with Vertex HSE standards, guidelines, and rules.

Candidate Qualifications

• Journeyman Certification.
• A minimum of 5 years Heavy Duty Mechanic experience.
• Experience with hydraulic repairs and diesel engine repair.
• Experience with chassis mechanics.
• Experience with specialty equipment mechanics, specifically Vacuum and Steamer.
• Class 5 Driver's License and a Clean Abstract.
• Demonstrate a commitment to environmental compliance and safe work practices.
• Ability to perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
• Ability to work independently while managing time and productivity.
• Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned.
• Successful candidates will demonstrate integrity and reliability.

Assets to Have:

• Class 1 or 3 Driver's License.
• First Aid.
• H2S Alive.
