Job description

Toromont Cat is looking for a Shop Helper to join our team! This position is responsible for supporting our branch site location with the workflow by keeping all shop areas organized and safe in order to streamline customer orders in an accurate and timely manner. The Shop Helper assists Shop Technicians and Supervisors to maximize productivity and efficiency.

In a typical day, YOU will:

• Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound, and healthy work behaviors in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies and initiatives
• Assist Shop Technicians and Supervisors as directed to support business needs
• Track, store, and maintain all required tooling to ensure safe operation
• Ensure tools are calibrated and respect expiry date parameters
• Locate and clean equipment, including moving equipment to designated locations before and after repairs
• Validate component lists and prepare for pickup by technicians or shipping via carrier
• Maintain shop and surrounding work area cleanliness
• Support contamination control by maintaining bulk oil, collection sites, and solvent stands according to ISO standards
• Segregate waste according to established policies
• Assist technicians with cleaning, typhoon/steam washing, and buffing parts
• Occasionally assist technicians on the road with their tasks

Must-haves for this role:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License
• Mechanical inclination
