Job summary

Toromont Cat in Timmins is seeking a Shop Helper to support the shop floor and keep areas organized and safe while expediting customer orders. You will assist Shop Technicians and Supervisors to boost productivity and efficiency in a fast-paced service environment.

Qualifications

• Completed high school or have at least 3 years in a similar workshop support function.
• Valid G Driver’s License is required.
• Ability to lift 30–50 lbs and work in a garage-style environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safe and environmentally sound work practices.
• Assist Shop Technicians and Supervisors as needed.
• Track, store and maintain required tooling for safe operation.
• Calibrate tools and respect expiry date parameters.
• Move and locate equipment before and after repairs.
• Validate component lists and prepare for pickup or shipping.
• Maintain cleanliness of the shop and surrounding area.
• Support Contamination Control by managing oil, solvents per ISO.
• May assist technicians on the road occasionally.

Job description

Toromont Cat is looking for a Shop Helper to join our team in Timmins! This position is responsible for supporting our branch site location with the work flow by keeping all shop areas organized and safe in order to streamline customer orders in an accurate and timely manner. The Shop Helper is intended to assist Shop Technicians and Supervisors in an effort to maximize the productivity and efficiency.

In a typical day, YOU will:

• Demonstrate safe, environmentally sound and healthy work behaviors at all times,in support of Toromont’s Health and Safety Policies, Programs and initiatives
• Assist Shop Technicians and Supervisors as directed in support of the business’ needs
• Track, store and maintain all required tooling required to ensure safe tool operation
• Be responsible for the calibration of the tools, making sure to respect the expiry date parameters
• Locate and clean equipment as required includingmoving theequipment to end locations before and after repairs are made
• Validate component lists and prepare for pick up by technicians or shipping via carrier
• Maintain shop and surrounding work area cleanliness
• Support Contamination Control efforts by maintaining bulk oil, collection sites and solvent stands according to ISO standards
• Ensure waste is segregated according to established policies
• Clean, typhoon/steam wash and buff parts as directed to assist Technicians with repairs
• May occasionally help technicians on the road with their tasks

Must-haves for this role:

• Completed high school OR have at least 3 years in a similar workshop support function
• Valid G Driver’s License
• Ability to lift up to 30 - 50lbsComfortable working in a garage style environment, mechanical inclination
